Avalon's back to updating 5 days a week... and It's Walky is also back from my guest week. Read it now. :-)
Also, I'm back from Otakon, which was some great anime fun. I've never been to as large (or as well-organized) an anime con before. And on Thursday, I head out to San Diego for Comic-Con International. As always, look for the guy in the hockey jersey. :-) Also be sure to check out the Keenspot booth... some Avalon swag will be available.

Well, I'm off to Otakon. I won't be back until late Monday, so the site's all set up to hum along without me. Tae's guest series concludes tomorrow, and huge thanks go to him for his 6 weeks of guest comics. I'm working on printing his series into a mini-comic book in time for Comic-Con next week, in case anyone was interested in having a hard copy.
Also, make sure to be here over the weekend for Chris Battey's continuing Ryan and Deirdre series... and then there'll be this big hit of nostalgia when Avalon resumes on Monday. ;-)

JHU Battousai developed a "movie trailer" for Avalon's impending conclusion. Check it out over here!

There are two pieces of original Avalon art up for auction at the moment. The first is the drawing of Ceilidh that eventually became the Avalon book cover. The second is a nude of Phoebe which was posted to one of the various Forum galas. With any luck, these auctions will help fund those expensive convention plans. ;-)

Just thought I'd give some sort of state-of-the-comic address (since I really haven't spoken about it in a while). Obviously, the comic's been on hiatus for a couple months, as I've been trying to recharge my creativity (alternatively, I could say I've been lazy... either way, I don't know what the hell's been going on. :-) ). Tae Jensen's been doing an excellent job of covering my ass on weekdays, and Chris Battey and Mizuki have been doing equally well on weekends. Again, my thanks go to these three for keeping the site alive recently. And subsequently, the Avalon Forum has been seeing a big increase in new users... so if you're looking for a party, forget about it and head to the forum instead.
But of course, they're not going to continue forever, and there's a story I've been telling here that hasn't exactly been finished yet. I'm still hesitant to make any promises (since you and I both know how well I stick to promises... ;-) ), but I intend to resume Avalon daily again on July 29th -- the week after Tae's series ends.
It's gonna be interesting, too, because from July 26 to 28, I'll be attending Otakon in Baltimore, MD. And then four days later, from August 1 to 4, I'll be helping to put the "International" into Comic-Con International, out in San Diego, CA. If you want to find me at either convention, look for the guy in an Ottawa Senators or Team Canada Olympic hockey jersey. I'll also be hawking some Avalon wares. :-)

Avalon has won the Cartoonist's Choice Award for Best Romance! You can see the award presentation here, or view all of the award presentations. Thanks to everyone who voted on the CCAs, and congrats to all the winners and nominees!
And speaking of presentations... Joe and Phoebe presented the award for Best Minimalist Comic!

I've resumed the "Comment on today's strip" link, which you can find directly beneath the comic above. The link leads to a dedicated thread in the Avalon Forum, and everyone's welcome to post their thoughts, questions, speculation, or whathaveyou.

Happy Canada Day -- the only day I'll ever let someone else drink a Molson. ;-)
