I simply can't stay awake long enough to finish this comic. :-P It'll have to wait for tomorrow. In the meantime, mzacher has sent me yet another fanart image, this one of Alison (wearing glasses for no better reason than that she can). And, uh... happy birthday to all you leap year babies. :-)

First off, there's a new comic. :-) But secondly, I just updated the Avalon Store! Not only are there updated designs, but it's also easier to browse all of the designs from a single page. Plus, there's a brand new mousepad design (which you're looking at right here).
Now, the Barq's and Friends designs are awfully old, so I'll be discontinuing them two weeks from now, on March 8th. Make sure to buy now before they're gone!

There really isn't much that needs to be said. ;-) Congratulations to Canada's men's and women's Olympic hockey teams for proving to the world that hockey is still Canada's game. Also, congrats to the United States for playing hard and making it a close one.
I'm going to try my damnedest to get a new strip up tomorrow. Wish me luck...

Big thanks to L. M. Wylofd, artist of The Horsemen, for today's Guest Artist Sunday comic. Unfortunately, I had received this a couple weeks ago, and now there are only six months of Avalon remaining. :-)
And I absolutely have to mention that Canada had one of our best days ever in Olympic competition yesterday. Canada won four medals (our most ever in a single day), bringing us to a total of 16 for these games (beating our previous Winter Olympic record of 15). Clara Hughes won a bronze in speed skating, making her the first Canadian to win medals in both the Winter and Summer Olympics. Marc Gagnon won two gold medals in as many hours last night in short track speed skating events, giving a lifetime total of five Olympic medals (tied for the most Olympic medals won by a Canadian). And today we have... The Game. :-) 50 years ago today, Canada won its last gold medal in men's Olympic hockey -- and today Team Canada plays against the United States in the gold medal game. So you know what I'll be watching. :-)

My week got sucky again. :-/ I can't wait to explain what's going on (it makes for great voyeuristic entertainment, I imagine). But once again, Nick Yu fills in for me with his unique vision [muffled laughter]. ;-) He'll also be providing a guest comic for tomorrow.

My week's starting to improve slightly, but not enough to get back into drawing comics. Hopefully I'll be back by tomorrow. Meanwhile, Daryl MacInnis (artist of North) drew this up while I was in Toronto for Ad Astra. So many other drawings were wrought... and perhaps they'll end up in the Forum eventually. :-)

Huge thanks to Nick Yu (artist of Bad Boys of Computer Science) for providing this guest comic on such short notice. And just for clarity: this is not canon. ;-)

Unfortunately, this is going to be a tough week for me at work, so updates may be spotty. :-/ Since there's no new comic today, up there is some art by me. It's Ceilidh drawn in a manga/anime style (a style I've been trying to get down pat recently). mzacher did the colouring job on this one, making it look a lot better than my original line art. Check out this forum thread for some more colouring variations, and other examples of my manga practice art.

Silvan Migdal, artist of A God's Life, brings us another one of his Guest Artist Sunday strips! Granted, I don't get it at all. :-)

Sorry there's no comic today. I laid down for a nap last night, and I didn't wake up until this morning... just in time for work. :-P And since whenever I promise there will be an update tomorrow it doesn't happen, I'll go with the tried and true reverse psychology: no new comics tomorrow. None, nada, no sir. Don't even bother checking the site, 'cause you won't find nothin'. I'll just be gettin' eight hours of sleep tonight, 'cause I won't be drawin' a comic.
And I sure as heck won't drawing two comics! That'll never happen.

Just got back from Ad Astra (like, an hour ago). I appeared on a webcomics panel with Daryl MacInnis (artist of North), and it was great fun. We had an excellent audience as well, which was great because the convention seemed to have nothing to do with comics. :-) Huge thanks go to Daryl and Sandie for letting me stay at their place in Toronto.
And as you can tell, no new Avalon today. However, Chris Battey (of Scatterplot) brings us this guest comic.

I'm off to Toronto today, where I'll be one of the many guests at the Ad Astra sci-fi/fantasy convention. I'll be on a Webcomics panel Saturday along with fellow webcartoonist Daryl MacInnis (artist of North). I'll also be doing an autographs thing on Sunday, so keep an eye out for me. As usual, it might be best to look for the Ottawa Senators jersey. :-)

There was a pretty significant technical issue with Avalon's IRC channel over the past several days, but things are starting to get back to normal. Check out this Forum thread for more details.

Today's comic is waiting for me to get over this creative block. In the meantime, mzacher has graced us with yet another excellent piece of fan art.
Some new webcomics are popping up... if you haven't checked out North yet, do so... it's got some amazing artwork to it, and it promises to feature a great story arc. Also, the venerable Eight is back in business with his hilarious fantasy strip called Bloodlark.
And finally, two of the many comic jams that took place during Genericon have been linked to from my slowly-evolving Genericon report. They are truly disturbing, and must be witnessed immediately. :-)

Hey, remember NoRTH? Today it returns better than ever (and I'm not sure if I should say that, since it's now completely different)! Check out North!
