Some new updates in the Genericon Report: photos by John Campbell, a con report (complete with photos) from Jeff Darlington, and a special Genericon comic by Nick Yu.

Tuesday, January 29, 2002
Erk... I am absolutely dead, and as a result I'm slacking off again. But it makes a great excuse to show off some Genericon stuff! As a result of a half dozen webcartoonists being together for an entire weekend, many comic jams took place. Above is a jam that was done during the Online Comics panel... that is, it was drawn by the panelists as questions were being taken. Ironically, this is nothing compared to the occassional panelist getting up in the middle of the panel to continue one of the overhead projector jams. It was great fun. :-)
The panelists were (in order of their drawings above): Nick Yu, Jon Rosenberg, myself, Brandon "Scrubbo" Sonderegger, Jeff Darlington, Matt Milligan, Meridith "Kiwi" Gran, and Alexis Fajardo
Also, a con report is slowly forming in this forum thread. In there you'll find the photos I took from the con. Soon there will be more comic jam scans as well.
And finally, some stuff about Ad Astra... I'll be doing a webcomics pseudo-panel there next weekend! Ad Astra is a sci-fi/literary convention, which takes place February 8-10 in Toronto, Ontario. More details will come as I receive them.

I just got back from Genericon, and it was an absolute blast! Greetings to anyone who might have discovered Avalon from picking up a flyer or by attending one of the webcomics panels (or having been subjected to a blackboard or overhead projector comic jam). I got a whole bunch of photos to show and stories to tell, so expect a con report later this week. In the meantime... SLEEP.

I'm off to Genericon! It's taking place this weekend in Troy, NY. I'll be sitting on a webcomics panel on Saturday, but I'll otehrwise just be wreaking havoc with several #avalon regulars. As usual, it's not hard to find me... I'll usually be the guy who looks way out of place in an Ottawa Senators hockey jersey. :-)

The fan art up above by Tae Jensen is oddly appropriate, as I couldn't get a comic strip done last night before going comatose. Check back for a new comic tomorrow.

Big thanks to Dev for today's Guest Artist Sunday comic!

Monday, January 14, 2002
No new comic today... I was out of town all weekend (thank goodness) and got home late last night to find my cable modem was down. So being tired and without Internet, I gave in to sleep. However, to fill the gap, up there is a piece of fan art I recently drew for Michael Martin's comic, Weishaupt Scholars. If you like intrigue, conspiracies, and men with fedoras lurking in the shadows, it's for you. :-)

I wanted to have new comics up here yesterday and today, but a certain debilitating cold got in my way. :-P So yesterday we had some Helène fanart from nzero and mzacher, and today brings us a Guest Artist Sunday strip by dacut.

Friday, January 4, 2002
I was too busy today to start on a comic early enough, and now if I don't get some sleep I'll be like a zombie tomorrow morning... a zombie who arrived late to work. :-) I'm not making any promises, but I want to have new comics up for Saturday and Sunday, so feel free to check in over the weekend.
In the meantime, dDave sent me this cool fan art of Phoebe in a kimono. Check out his comic, Pander... awesome artwork, and funky-weird drama all in one. :-)
And one last thing: the weekly archive has been fixed! There should no longer be any 404 errors while viewing the archive week-by-week.
