Here's a comic I had published in last Thursday's edition of Carleton University's independent student newspaper, The Charlatan. I was quasi-contracted by CUSA (the Carleton University Students Association) to draw a comic for their half-page feature, CUSA Corner. Neither I nor CUSA really knew what to do with the comic, so this is what resulted. :-) If this gig continues, I'll probably post each Thursday's CUSA comic on this site on Saturdays (provided it doesn't end up on a CUSA or Charlatan site).
And I finally got around to figuring out a new poll question. The results of the last poll were very positive; 93% seem to have enjoyed the summer episode, with more than half the total voters preferring the character development aspect. Hopefully the current storyline is appeasing those folks. :-)

Thank you, Corey! ;-)

If anyone's confused about yesterday's comic, "OAC" stands for "Ontario Academic Credits," and refers to that mythical "Grade 13" here in Ontario. There's a more lengthy explanation in the FAQ under the Culture section..

The Archive page has also been updated. That's the place to go if you're trying to jump to a specific date in the archive, if you're trying to find some particular comic but don't know when it happened - there's a storyline summary there to help you find it.

The About and FAQ sections have been updated.
And for anyone not familiar with the Ontario school system (or the North American public school system in general), you might want to check the appropriate entry in the FAQ. It'll help with the current storyline.

Miguel, a friend of mine who's teaching in Japan for a year, had this to say recently...
BTW Josh, the teacher is describing your comic as a famous Canadian comic... I hope you can live up to that... in a few years 750 or so kids will turn to Avalon on a daily basis for inspiration as to what Canadian life is like... MHUAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, and as he says it in Japanese, I see no reason to understand what he`s saying to correct him. 8)
Hm, another 750 potential lynchers. And I'm quickly running out of foreign countries to seek refuge in. :-)

Guest Artist Sunday's are back! This week's guest strip is courtesy of Luis Alejandro González Miranda, a Chilean fan - careful, his homepage appears to be in Spanish. :-) I especially like the rendition of Ceilidh in this one... her hairstyle actually seems physically possible! ;-) Thanks Luis!
Polls, polls, polls... last week's poll kept on dying! I really don't know why the results keep resetting, but I really don't feel comfortable tweaking the code. Not yet, anyway... it could always try to piss me off some more. :-) but the general consensus from the last poll was that people want to see equal amounts of in-school hijinks and out-of-school activities. So be it. :-)

Sorry... school assignment combined with early classes the next day means no comic for today. I should have two up on Friday (or maybe even today's up this evening).
Oh, and it turned out not to be Ceilidh after all. :-/

Nothing terribly newsworthy these days... though Avalon has started into its second volume! That should help explain the numbering scheme under each comic. Also, it's being debated whether the character in the background of this Ein Stück Natur strip is Ceilidh. If it is, Vincent just became even cooler. ;-)

And there's Friday's comic! I'll all caught up, dagnabbit. And once again, there will be no Guest Artist Sunday this weekend (I'm out of town again). I'll get my act together on that one next Sunday.

Aaaaand there's Wednesday's and Thursday's comics. Friday's will be up tomorrow.

I'm back from a truly kick-arse vacation. I'll be catching up with the missed comics this week... there's Monday's and Tuesday's up there, and hopefully I'll have Wednesday's, Thursday's, and Friday's up tomorrow.
As for last week-and-a-half's poll... whomever voted for Canadian Tire Money guessed correctly. Everyone else was just deluding themselves. ;-) Meanwhile, you now have a chance to actually affect the strip in some small way! Vote now in this week's poll!
Now excuse me as I prepare for school. *sob*
