The results of Death By Snow '99 are in: it was close, but Ceilidh beat Phoebe with a total of 53%. In the end it was nationality that proved the deciding factor, with the Scots taking 39% and the Canucks taking 30%. Phoebe's supposed dark powers gave her a 10% chance to win, and her previous combat experience 8%. Ceilidh's hair gave her an 8% chance of winning, and her pent-up anger gave her 6%.
Today's poll isn't related to Avalon... I thought I could just play on all the Y2K hype. I apologize if you're sick of it already, so be as cynical as you like when voting. :-)

Yep, another late comic for those of you who check the site around 12:01 AM. :-) Hopefully this weekend I can get caught up on future strips.

I apologize for the lateness of the last two strips. It's been a pretty hectic week (although I did get my Christmas shopping done yesterday...), and I've been having to get each comic done in the wee hours of the morning.
As penance, I'll be doing a special New Year's comic for Friday, December 31. Make sure you drop by then to see me screw around with the old, familiar format. :-)

Okay, Ceilidh kinda ran away with last week's poll as the character with the best hair, taking a whopping 53%. Phoebe took 19%, Joe 9%, and Alison and that office staff guy were tied with 7%. Helène's poor hair took the remaining 5%, leaving Alan and Ryan with zero votes apiece. There's a new question for this week, so vote now!

In a vain attempt to spruce up weekends a bit, I've added the Avalon Weekly Poll (you can see it over there, on the left). Every Saturday there will be a new frivolous topic for you to vote on! Please vote only once per week... I'd like to at least pretend the results are accurate. :-) If anyone has some ideas for future questions, send them in!

Okay, I lied. :-) I pulled an all-nighter yesterday, and the archive is now fixed! You'll also notice it follows a weekly view, instead of the previous day-by-day listing. This should make catching up with old comics quicker. As usual, if you don't like the change, or find some obscure bugs, please tell me so I can fix them.

I added an Extreme-DM tracker thingamabobber to the bottom of this page, to help me keep track of visitors to the site. It's slightly more dynamic than my simple hit counter. :-) Feel free to click on the square black logo to check out Avalon's stats yourself.
And now, let's play a game called Defer Fixing of the Archive. ;-) Whenever I haven't been drawing Avalon, studying for exams, or catching up on precious sleep, I've had very little time to do anything else. So the archive will probably remain in its current state for at least another week. We'll see how this weekend coming up treats me.

Holy cow, 203 hits yesterday! The first time Avalon has broken 200 hits in one day... and it was a Sunday, too, for pete's sake! :-) This (and the fact that I have no more assignments due for school until January) makes me very happy. Thanks everyone!

There's a new menu bar on the top of each page, which now includes links to the message forum, as well as new FAQ and Misc. sections. You may have to shift-reload to update your browser's cache with the new image. The FAQ is a little empty now, simply because not many questions have been asked frequently. :-) The Misc. section contains things that don't really fit anywhere else, and already includes the Avalon icon and banner images.

Okay, I know I said that last week I'd fix the archive, but I didn't. The problem only seems to be an inability to properly link to today's comic when you're moving forward through the archive, so it's not fatal or anything. Meanwhile, I only have two assignments left to complete for school on the 6th, and then my exam break begins. I'll find some time in there - that I should probably use for studying, but when has that ever stopped me - to rehaul the archive.
And by the way, if anyone has some suggestions for an improved archive interface, now's the time to speak up. :-)
